Another Cool Invention
Ok, this happens to be the coolest and most useful design I have come across so far. We use magnets for picking up, posting, power, latching, but for curtains? So simple, yet so genius, and why has this never been thought of before? It may look like a modern white curtain, but within the material are a grid of magnets. One can easily push the material away instead of having to drape the curtain traditionally. Shown in the image to the left the curtain appears open, held by the magnets it appears as if the curtain is exploding open. Quite the artistic look.

Superbowl Mayhem
So far I've watched almost all of the commercials aired during the 2008 Superbowl. I've come to conclusion the main theme this year was to present a dystopia-like situation in exaggeration of the current situation in the United States. Ads such as FedEx and Under Armor are clear examples of a dystopia where the people of society have come to fight against.
Many commercials also played on a theme of making connections with older movies that the target market (middle aged, beer enthused men) would be familiar with.
My favorite ad would have to be the FedEx with the courier pigeons. The concept is fun, and the visuals are very believable, for example the giant pigeons are destroying the downtown of a major city. The humour of the experience they are trying to sell, in my opinion is brilliant.

The Greatest Movie of All Time...
As I've mentioned before in my blog, Art Deco is my favorite style of design, and it has been long before I even knew. When I was young my favorite movie was always Disney's The Rocketeer, and still is. Then I only appreciated the film because of my close attachment with aviation, now with a knowledge of design the movie blows my mind.
The art direction, and design in this movie is absolutely phenomenal, especially if you are a fan of Deco. The film is set in the 20's so it's only authentic, but the works re-produced in the film seen many times are completely fictional - but beautiful. Everything as far as the helmet of the Rocketeer to an accurate representation of the industrial revolution, all is spot on. If you have yet to this film I highly recommend it, for not only entertainment but for the appreciation of quality design. Also, Timothy Dalton is the bomb, or bond....
