The Greatest Movie of All Time...

As I've mentioned before in my blog, Art Deco is my favorite style of design, and it has been long before I even knew. When I was young my favorite movie was always Disney's The Rocketeer, and still is. Then I only appreciated the film because of my close attachment with aviation, now with a knowledge of design the movie blows my mind.

The art direction, and design in this movie is absolutely phenomenal, especially if you are a fan of Deco. The film is set in the 20's so it's only authentic, but the works re-produced in the film seen many times are completely fictional - but beautiful. Everything as far as the helmet of the Rocketeer to an accurate representation of the industrial revolution, all is spot on. If you have yet to this film I highly recommend it, for not only entertainment but for the appreciation of quality design. Also, Timothy Dalton is the bomb, or bond....

Shown here is a replica helmet from the film. Purely Art Deco.

The artwork for the poster is very similar to metropolis posters that were designed during the art deco period as well. I attached some links that have similar artwork which captures the same feeling in colour and shapes:
